Webinars

What is a webinar?
Webinar is short for Web-based seminar. It is a presentation, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web. The fun part of a Webinar is its interactive elements -- the ability to give, receive and discuss information. Contrast with Webcast, in which the data transmission is one way and does not allow interaction between the presenter and the audience. Source: Webopedia.

This is a description of a webinar that was in June as an example of one kind of webinar we could learn from:
Anthony is a social studies teacher at Del Mar Middle School in California. He uses his classroom wiki at http://delmarhistory8.wikispaces.com to engage his students in the course material. As he covers each unit, his students define terms, explore the subject more in online educational forums, or research, report, and create podcasts on areas of interest. Come to our webinar, meet Anthony, and see how he uses his wiki to immerse his students in U.S. History.
